If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my week was pretty uneventful, until Friday morning. I left for work and forgot to get gas. Since I work on top of a mountain, it’s pretty important to not run out of gas. Halfway up, the fuel light went on. After another 10 miles I made it to the top and pulled in to the gas station. As I got out of the car and reached for the pump, I noticed a sign that said “no credit cards.”  Uh oh. Since I had no cash with me, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.  It would be an awful long ride up the mountain for my husband to bring me some gas. I ended up calling a co-worker who not only loaned me $10 but the drove over to the gas station and brought the money to me. So, I learned two lessons. 1) Fill up your car with gas when it needs it, and 2) Always have some cash with you, in case you forget to fill up the car and they don’t accept credit cards!

Other than that, my week was pretty dull. What’s that? You gotta run? Me too, let’s catch up more the next time I see you.

  3. Yesterday I got in the car with my husband and the fuel indicator dinged. He said that he’s been driving it around all week like that. I said, “I will be REALLY mad if we run out of gas. Like, really mad.” He laughed and bought some gas. Then he told me a story of a time when he ran out of gas at 2 AM with his motorcycle and the police ended up picking him up and driving home somewhere. It was a funny story, but I am very glad that I did not have to live it. Sorry about your gas situation. That is not fun, ever.

  6. I always have an emergency ten in the globe box. When my kids were younger but it if the house, I always told them to keep an emergency twenty in the globe box and I would give it to them if they didn’t have it. I cannot tell you how many times they called to say they would have been stranded were it not for the emergency bill in the globe box.

    1. This is actually a great tip to keep some cash in the car. I am on of those people who prefers to use card over cash…so an emergency stash would come in very handy. Thanks for the glove compartment tip!

  9. This is probably the story of my life: running low on fuel and never carrying cash! My husband is just the opposite and can never understand why he always has to fuel up my truck when he needs to drive it. lol. Enjoyed the coffee chat and I suppose I’ll “drop by” next week via coffee share. 🙂

  10. Sorry for the nearly-out-of-gas scare, but thanks for sharing it here. Isn’t needing to pay for something (only to find out they take x, not y, which is all you have) is rather like getting behind a tractor on a curvy, two-lane road when you were already running behind? Hope we all always have a friend like that to help you out in a pinch!

  11. So good your co-worker came to the rescue.
    This reminds me to give my daughter some cash in case she has trouble travelling to an from school. I haven’t had trouble with petrol but I did drop her at drama one week and it wasn’t on so she started walking home and the Police saw her and brought her home. I was so relieved. It was one of the few times that I haven’t walked her in.
